Great Rated! recently surveyed more than 34,000 employees in the financial services sector to find out which companies are creating the best workplaces from their own staff’s perspectives.
You might expect these companies to perform well on metrics relating to pay, professional development and commitment to business ethics – and they do – but employees also praise their firms’ commitment to values that extend beyond the balance sheet.
“Community and people matter to us far more than profits,”says one Edward Jones employee. “We don't provide options and assist in making choices for our clients based on what we can get out of it, but on the client's future goals/needs.”
Think that sentiment is the exception and not the rule? It’s not. Employees at the 20 winning companies are a very inspired bunch. Ninety-three percent are proud of their organization’s contributions to the community and 90 percent feel that their work isn’t “just a job” – it actually has special meaning.
Many employees speak to how well-rounded their workplaces are. “Ever since I started here, I have felt happy to come to work and have been treated like family,” describes one Quest CE employee, who goes on to describe the balance between fun and teamwork that makes Quest CE work. “We are a hardworking team that is spoiled with Ping Pong and foosball tournaments in the office. [But] I feel that our strongest asset is communication - it is key to achieving our goals, which Quest CE has done continuously.”
